Golden Globes Top 10 List

Award season is here! The gowns are a major part but there were too many other memorable moments last night that I couldn't only focus on dresses. Here is my Top Ten take-aways from last night's award show.

10. What’s up with Johnny Depp’s accent? I’m not sure what he was going for but it sounded like he had a case of the Madonnas
9. Elle MacPherson is positively gorgeous. I know this isn’t anything new but last night was a reminder that at age 47 she still has it all.

8. Lots of gowns with long sleeves (Michelle Williams, Laura Dern and Jessica Biel to name a few) and deep v’s (Charlize Theron, Emma Stone and Rooney Mara).

7. Way too much facial hair. Men, this is an awards show and it is not appropriate to use facial hair to achieve a “look”. Even Ashton Kutcher managed to show up with a clean shave. I hope some razors are pulled out before the Oscars (got that Leo?).

6. Elton John’s face when Madonna won Best Song. He was sooooo not happy.
5. Things that didn't work: Angelina Jolie looked like the Queen of Hearts- the bright white dress with a red trim, hair slicked back and zero smile. Overall, not a good look.  And what was up with Madonna’s glove- was she trying to pull a Michael Jackson? Was she reminiscing her 80s outfits? Worst dressed was Sarah Michelle Gellar- it looked like she wore a wedding dress to paint balling.

4. During her speech, Michelle Williams admitted to six months of bedtime stories in a Marilyn Monroe sounding voice. So sweet yet somewhat disturbing.
3. Hollywood needs to seriously calm down with the spray tanning. This picture doesn't do it justice but Rob Lowe is orange and it didn't help standing next to fare skinned Julianne Moore.

2. Favorite looks included Natalie Portman, Kate Winslet, Reese Witherspoon, Tina Fey, Jessica Alba and Charlize Theron. They all looked like confident stars wearing elegant yet appropriate gowns.

1. Top overall? Charlize Theron. She was radiant, the blush dress was beautiful and sexy, and the diamonds, especially the headband, added the perfect amount of sparkle.  I’m already looking forward to seeing what she has in store for the Oscars!

  1. Loved your comments! Our paper described Angelina in a most unflattering way, calling her “Vampire chic”!!
